A note on pilot run pricing — we're transparent about it
Per-unit costs on pilot runs are higher than full-scale production. Setup costs, materials minimums, and line configuration overhead are spread across fewer units — that's the honest math of small-batch packaging.
What a pilot run buys you is not the cheapest per-unit cost. It buys you market validation without a large capital commitment, access to certified facilities that most co-packers reserve for large accounts, and a working relationship with the partner you'll scale with. A co-packing pilot run is a smaller-volume initial production run used to validate your packaging format, test market a product, satisfy a retailer sample requirement, or launch a new SKU before committing to large-scale production. Pilot runs allow brands to confirm specifications, line performance, and quality standards before scaling up.
Are pilot run pricing and lead times different from standard production?
Per-unit costs on pilot runs are typically higher than full-scale production because setup, materials sourcing, and line configuration costs are spread across a smaller quantity. We are transparent about this upfront — the value of a pilot run is access, validation, and speed to market, not the lowest possible unit cost. Lead times are the same: 10–12 working days from confirmed specs and materials.
Can a pilot run grow into a long-term co-packing partnership?
Yes — and that is the most common path. Many of our long-term clients started with a pilot run or small initial order. Once we've proven the format, established the line parameters, and built the working relationship, scaling volume is straightforward. There is no obligation after a pilot, but most brands choose to continue.
